Last week, I received an intriguing package brandishing yards of FRAGILE tape. With its arrival coinciding with my birthday, I excitedly slashed the tape and burrowed into the bubble wrap in anticipation of what this mystery gift might be. You can imagine my disappointment* joy to discover it was actually packed with pottery masterpieces created by the team at our recent away week.
Speaking of which, it’s high time we shared a little update on what we got up to on our latest team jaunt. For those who don’t know, we are a remote-first company with team members spanning the UK and Spain. Twice a year, we come together for a team away week, an opportunity to put our heads together to share what we’ve been working on, celebrate successes, thrash out some knotty problems, get to know each other better, and maybe even enjoy a sprinkling (downpour) of fun.
Our Spring 2026 away week saw us descend on the picturesque village of Symondsbury, close to the market town of Bridport on the beautiful Jurassic coast. Read on to hear more about what we packed into our week.

Concentraitors
With the return of Chief Fun Officer, aka Dr Patrick Hart, to British shores came a follow-up to 2024’s Concentric Dine with Me experience, a highly original game of wit and deceit, Concentraitors (which is in absolutely no way the same as BBC’s The Traitors). The dulcet tones of a top-class narration by Claude-i-a (get it?) guided us through a series of Claude-assisted challenges, murders, and banishments before the Faithful triumphed over the treacherous Traitors (ahem, watch out for Brogan and Patrick, they’re not to be trusted).
Team show and tell
New for 2026 was the introduction of a team show-and-tell. As a team, we’re often focused on delivering the next product feature, building our content library, and managing deployments without pausing to reflect on what we’ve achieved or learned. Introducing show and tell; each business function was invited to share an update on recent achievements, reflections and learnings, and focus areas for the next few months. As a group of forward-looking innovators, dedicating time to retrospectives isn’t our natural go-to, and yet this session turned out to be a key highlight, resulting in our scheduled one-hour turning into half a day.
The Great Concentric Pottery Throwdown
In an effort to dethrone our founders following their domination of the go-karting winner’s podium at our last away week, we opted for something a little gentler, a pottery workshop. The incredibly patient and encouraging Amelia of Clay & Salt guided us through two hours of handbuilding, resulting in a selection of mugs, pen pots, bowls, and even a giraffe. The jury’s out on who’s the winner…

Run, sun, sea, and sauna
We struck lucky with the weather during our visit, with a week of sunshine, which allowed us to get out to explore the best that Dorset has to offer. If you’re looking to pay a visit to the area, we have linked our recommendations below:
- Coach Bowie guided us on running routes, taking in the best views of land and sea, including the somewhat mysterious, but beautiful sandstone Holloways

- We braved several dips in the sea before warming our cockles in the wonderful woodfired Bayside Sauna located in nearby West Bay

- We explored the Symondsbury Estate, enjoying refreshments in their delightful cafe, fuelling our trot to the top of Colmer’s Hill

- A trip to the seaside would not be complete without an obligatory meal of Fish & Chips; we opted for The Lyme Bay, which boasts beautiful views out to sea. After a pitstop for ice-cream (shout out to the delectable Baboo Gelato), a self-guided fossil-hunting walk along Monmouth beach left us in ammonite-awe and a dice with danger when Brogan and Daf nearly lay victims to a land-slip of the eroding coast (thus revealing why a guided walk may have been more sensible!).

- Enjoyed artisan delights for not one, but two lunches at Soulshine, Bridport. We can also recommend Goose and Badger for Martyn-approved coffee
- Adventured into an unassuming industrial estate to enjoy our last evening together over delicious, authentic Italian pizza at Mercato Italiano
We did also work hard, promise!

Ringfenced time combined with the benefits that face-to-face interaction brings, means away weeks are the perfect opportunity for us to get stuck into meaty challenges, which this time included:
- Furthering progress on the development of an in-app translation
- Refining our technical approach to enable the inclusion of Dr Terouz Pasha’s incredible illustrations (piloting very soon)
- Working on our approach to expand our offering in oncology
- Advancing our research and innovation work exploring the utilisation of patient-reported complications to further empower patient decision-making.
Oh, and not to forget a mention to our interns, Bonnie and Olive. Olive the Labrador proved herself to be our star employee for being the goodest girl. Meanwhile, Bonnie the Whippet is currently subject to a HR investigation for her poor attitude toward work and slacking on the job.

To wrap it up, all in all, the week was a great success. I think I can speak for everyone when I say it was a genuine pleasure to spend a week together, building our relationships not just as colleagues, but as friends too (as corny as that sounds, it’s true!).
