🎉 Daf announced as an NHS Innovation Accelerator 2025 cohort Fellow

We’re super proud to see Co-founder and CEO Daf inducted as an NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) Fellow for 2025-2028. The NIA is the NHS’s highly selective programme for a small group of innovators and innovations ready for national scale; the prestigious decade-long programme counts the great and good of healthtech amongst its alumni. We can’t wait to see the impact of the NIA on Concentric’s future. Read Daf’s announcement and explore the NIA innovations.

🚨 Highlights from our latest releases

Concentric is an ever-evolving product, with our monthly product releases often covering a mix of user-requested features, iterative improvements to existing elements, and performance improvements. In parallel, content updates go out monthly, too; see our content updates.

We realise not everyone checks out our release notes, so we’ve picked out our top highlights from recent releases below:

  1. Sharing events (i.e. when consent information is shared with patients via email or SMS) are now visible in the episode history, making it clearer what information has been shared and when - see release 87.
  2. Read-only users can now share episodes, easing some admin workflows and reducing clinician burden - see release 90.
  3. Patient app copy has been updated to improve understanding when accessing information remotely - see release 91.
  4. New info banners can be added on procedure names where they need further detail – such as specifying an exact digit/tooth/spinal level – to reduce the risk of wrong site surgery further. See release 88.
  5. A new type of consent template has been created, allowing greater flexibility for different use cases where certain fields, such as risks, are not applicable, e.g. for genetic consent - see release 88.

🎖️ Rewired 2025: Concentric awarded Highly Commended in the PitchFest revenue-generating category

March also saw us return to Birmingham (coinciding with a rather welcoming bin strike 🗑️❌) for one of the healthtech industry calendar’s main events, Rewired 2025. It was a busy couple of days connecting with existing and prospective customers, chatting tech with peers from other suppliers, and, of course, keeping everyone’s feet warm with our famous Concentric socks. Our Clinical Operations Lead, Chloé, took to the stage to fly the flag for Concentric in the ever-popular PitchFest finals, coming away with Highly Commended in the revenue-generating category – read Chloé’s reflections.

As a mostly remote-working company, events like this are as much for catching up as a team for lovely dinners in restaurants with extremely long curtains as they are anything else!

💡 Spotlight on Barts - the fastest NHS Concentric rollout to date

It’s been a mere 7 months since Concentric went live at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the namesake site of Barts Health NHS Trust, and yet the Trust is already transitioning to digital consent being ‘business as usual’. Now deployed across four of their five sites, an average of 600 clinicians use Concentric with ~1900 patients weekly. As one of the largest Trusts in the country, covering a very diverse population across North East London, this is no mean feat. The secret to their success? An absolute powerhouse of a project team backed by super-engaged clinical leadership.

Katy Williams, eConsent Programme Manager at Barts, commented on working with us: “It has been a fantastic experience working alongside Concentric to deliver eConsent to Barts Health NHS Trust. The team at Concentric has been by our side throughout the whole journey. They have worked with us to navigate local challenges, share solutions from their wider experience across the NHS, and build an ever-expanding ontology for the Trust. For me, the best part about Concentric is that clinicians simply love it! It is so great to give clinicians access to the tools they want and need to deliver outstanding patient care. Thank you to everyone at Concentric for supporting us on our journey!”

🏥 An evening at Circle Reading Hospital

With Concentric now introduced across all 52 Circle Health Group sites and used by 2,500 Circle clinicians a week, Daf spent an evening at the impressive Circle Reading site, getting feedback and exploring improvement ideas with clinicians, ward staff, and back office teams.

In our day-to-day operations, we tend to speak to staff on the wards and behind the scenes less than our clinician users. The titbits from these conversations were a powerful reminder to keep thinking about the system as a whole.

Huge thanks to Rachel Barker for leading the implementation at the site, for inviting us to the event, and for Daf’s feedback-gathering tour around the hospital!

🎧 For your ears and eyes

  • Mr Alex Boddy, clinical lead for digital consent at University Hospitals of Leicester, published a fascinating journal article titled ‘Enhancing informed consent in oncological surgery through digital platforms and artificial intelligence’. The review oozes Alex’s wise approach and experience in the area, a review of both the past and present with a balanced look forward to the future and some of the AI-driven opportunities in the area.
  • Professor Susan Downes and Lidia Milla of Oxford University Hospitals sat down with Megan Morys-Carter for TheHill’s Digital Innovation Podcast to reflect on the introduction of Concentric – triumphs and challenges – at OUH. From the episode notes: “This is a must-listen for anyone looking to pilot in the NHS, and also for those in the NHS looking to facilitate the adoption of innovative technology.”
