Content updates
Our clinical team are continuously broadening, updating, and refining the Concentric ontology (i.e. the treatment templates), and updates are released every few weeks.
Most healthcare organisations use the main (‘master’) version of the Concentric ontology – those using this version will see updates as per the below release notes. Deployments using a locally modified version of the Concentric ontology sometimes receive updates on different dates to the main version, and the content of the updates can be different – including further local modifications requested.

Release notes for the last 6 content updates are presented in reverse chronology (most recent first). Earlier release notes are available on request. The list of all the treatment templates available within Concentric, presented by specialty, is maintained in our treatment template list. You can also click any of the specialty titles below to go to the relevant full list for that specialty.
Each release goes through a thorough release process, as outlined within our release process page. These release notes highlight the recent areas of focus, listing new treatment templates made available and reviews undertaken, but do not detail every change within a release. Our reviews involve a review of the existing template alongside clinician feedback received, a review of the published evidence-base, and insights gathered from real-world use of the template – for example patterns in terms of risks modified or added.

Release 48 - 12 Apr 2024

Obstetrics and Gynaecology: MyoSure hysteroscopic procedure.
Orthopaedics: Extracorporeal shockwave therapy for musculoskeletal conditions, Tibialis anterior tendon transfer for club foot, Percutaneous Achilles tenotomy for club foot.
Reviews conducted: Large loop excision of the transformation zone of the cervix (LLETZ), Transvaginal/Open/Laparoscopic insertion of a transvaginal cervical stitch/cerclage

Interventional radiology Endovascular stent-assisted coiling of a cerebral aneurysm, Endovascular insertion of an endosaccular flow disruption device for a cerebral aneurysm.
Ophthalmology: Viscocanalostomy, Supramid suture removal from aqueous shunt implant, Goniotomy, Trabeculectomy +/- mitomycin C / 5-FU, Open globe injury repair, Supraciliary drainage implant (MINIject) insertion, Subconjunctival 5-Fluorouracil injection following trabeculectomy, Bleb revision.
Reviews conducted: OGD/gastroscopy, EUS, ERCP, capsule endoscopy, and flexible bronchoscopy.
Release 46 - 25 Feb 2024
Area of focus: No changes to ontology content but new additional consents (BSUG database, BOFAS registry and CMR Surgical’s Registry and Versius Video platform), released alongside release 75 of the Concentric application.
Release 45 - 25 Feb 2024
Area of focus: No changes to ontology content but new anaesthetic options (conscious sedation, anxiolysis), released alongside release 75 of the Concentric application.
Release 44 - 4 Feb 2024
New templates released
Ophthalmology: Endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation, Anterior chamber washout, Bleb needling, Cataract surgery with multifocal or extended depth of field lens.
Pain medicine: Saddle neurolytic block, Botulinum toxin injection for myofascial pain syndrome, Quadratus lumborum block, Lumbar paravertebral block, Abdominal trigger point injection.
Medicine: Belimumab, Erenumab, Fremanezumab.
Radiology: Right heart ventricular angiography, Aortogram.
Maxillofacial: Submental intubation.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology: Cervical smear, Robot-assisted laparoscopic salpingectomy
General surgery: Robot-assisted laparoscopic cholecystectomy, Robot-assisted laparoscopic inguinal/femoral hernia repair.
Reviews conducted: Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, External direct current cardioversion.
Release 43 - 16 Jan 2024
Release 43 contained no new templates, but includes improvements to a number of templates as part of a review cycle, including analysis of clinician usage of the templates over the past 2 years.
